Summary of Findings
The Asante Akim South District Assembly scored 78 per cent in the overall assessment of its performance, based on the GAS audit findings. Strengths: The Assembly showed a strong performance in all areas of project planning and implementation, especially in involving communities and other stakeholders to identify projects, in following laid down procedures and in keeping documentation. Weaknesses: The audit revealed a few gaps in how the Assembly procured and engaged contractors, monitored and supervised the execution of the projects

Recommendation
The Works Department should prepare and submit project estimates to the budget officers in a timely manner for use in budget preparation. All procurement activities on projects should be carried out and documented as per the PPA. The evaluation panels should be independent of the ETC and the evaluation reports they produce should be sent to the relevant review body for concurrent approval. The assembly should maintain close supervision to ensure that projects are executed to the desired quality. The assembly should carry out impact evaluation of completed projects.
